What is the ESMA MiCAR register?

What does Title II (OTHR) mean in the MiCA register?

Title II of the MiCA Regulation covers crypto-assets other than asset-referenced tokens (ARTs) and e-money tokens (EMTs). These are commonly referred to as "OTHR" tokens. This category includes utility tokens, payment tokens, and other crypto-assets that do not fall under Title III (ARTs) or Title IV (EMTs). A white paper must be notified to the relevant national competent authority before these tokens can be offered to the public in the EU.

How often is this ESMA register data updated?

ESMA publishes an updated version of the interim MiCA register CSV approximately once per week. We check the official ESMA publication every day at 15:00 CET and import any new or modified entries into our database. Because of ESMA's weekly publishing schedule, there may be a delay of several days between when a white paper is notified to a national competent authority and when it appears in this register.

What is the interim MiCA register and why is it a CSV file?

The interim MiCA register is a temporary publication format that ESMA uses until mid-2026, when the register will be formally integrated into ESMA's IT systems. In the meantime, ESMA publishes the register data as a collection of five CSV files that are updated and republished at regular intervals. This page makes the Title II CSV data searchable and filterable in a user-friendly format.

What information is included for each white paper entry?

Each entry in the register includes the authorising entity name, Legal Entity Identifier (LEI), home member state, Digital Token Identifier (DTI), the country where the crypto-asset is offered, a link to the white paper document, the date of the last update, and any comments from the competent authority. If an authorisation is withdrawn, the entry remains in the register with the withdrawal date noted.

Yes. You can use the search bar at the top of the register to filter entries by entity name, LEI code, DTI code, or comments. You can also filter by EU member state using the dropdown. All columns are sortable by clicking the column header. This makes it easy to look up whether a specific token or issuer has been notified under MiCA.

This page displays the same data from the official ESMA interim MiCA register, but in a searchable, filterable, and sortable table format. The official ESMA publication is a raw CSV file that is difficult to browse. We sync the data daily at 15:00 CET so you can access the latest information without having to download and parse CSV files yourself.

Do I need a white paper to offer a crypto-asset in the EU?

Yes. Under MiCA, any person who intends to offer a crypto-asset other than an ART or EMT to the public in the EU, or seeks admission to trading on a trading platform, must first draw up a crypto-asset white paper and notify it to the competent authority of their home member state. The white paper must comply with the content requirements in MiCA and be published in iXBRL format according to ESMA's technical standards.
